"The Hunger Games: Catching Fire" teaser trailer

After "Identity Thief" debuted to huge numbers, despite a critical mauling, "42" marks the next Georgia film release this year to strike gold at the box office. Georgia productions are on a roll, to say the least, and the biggest player in the game doesn't even come out until November. "The Hunger Games: Catching Fire" is the most ambitious Georgia production to date, in terms of budget, spectacle and the expectations of an already massive built-in fan base.

The teaser trailer premiered at the MTV Movie Awards last night, showcasing the first real footage of the film so far. Much like the first film in the franchise, we aren't given any footage of the actual games– a frustrating, but effective suspense tactic. We can spot returning stars like Jennifer Lawrence, Josh Hutcherson, Woody Harrelson, Liam Hemsworth, Elizabeth Banks, Stanley Tucci, Donald Sutherland and Willow Shields, as well as newcomer to the cast– Philip Seymour Hoffman. Francis Lawrence's sequel hits cinema screens on November 22nd.

Georgia produced "Identity Thief" opens nationwide tomorrow

I have yet to see Seth Gordon's "Identity Thief," so I can't promise you that it is any good. However, it was filmed in Georgia last spring and features funny people Jason Bateman, Melissa McCarthy and Amanda Peet, as well as Georgia's own T.I.. The film promises to be a pretty substantial box office hit, despite less-than-stellar reviews. Morris Chestnut, John Cho, Jon Favreau, Robert Patrick, Genesis Rodriguez and Eric Stonestreet round out the cast. "Identity Thief" was filmed in Atlanta and Hampton last April.

Seth Gordon's latest film is "Identity Thief," starring Jason Bateman, Melissa McCarthy and Amanda Peet. You might remember shooting taking place in Atlanta back in the spring. It looks like Georgia is being passed off as both Colorado and Florida in the film, although Atlanta's skyline is easy to spot and fans of "The Walking Dead" should recognize the familiar highways of Hampton.

Georgia's film industry: A $3.1 billion dollar behemoth

From July 1, 2011 to June 30, 2012, a record $3.1 billion dollars was generated by Georgia-lensed films, television series, commercials and music videos. This is a rise of nearly 30% over 2011's fiscal year, which held the previous record.

A stunning 333 productions were filmed in Georgia during FY2012, many of which you have already seen hit theater screens or will see in the coming months. Georgia's already robust showing at cinemas this year includes releases like "Joyful Noise," "Wanderlust," "The Three Stooges," "What to Expect When You're Expecting," "The Watch," "The Odd Life of Timothy Green," "Lawless" and "Trouble with the Curve."

03/21 Star spotting: Amy Poehler, Clint Eastwood, Justin Timberlake, Melissa McCarthy

Clint Eastwood star vehicle "Trouble with the Curve" is still filming here in Georgia. Currently being shot at the Amicalola Falls Lodge in Dawsonville, the film also stars Amy Adams, Justin Timberlake and John Goodman. Previous filming has taken place in Athens, Atlanta, Conyers and Macon.

Jason Bateman and recent Oscar nominee Melissa McCarthy will begin filming a comedy titled "Identity Thief" in Atlanta next month. The film is currently searching for extras.

"A.C.O.D." ("Adult Children of Divorce") is on its second week of filming in Atlanta. Starting out in Castleberry Hill, the comedy starring Amy Poehler, Adam Scott, Richard Jenkins, Jane Lynch, Jessica Alba, Mary Elizabeth Winstead and Catherine O'Hara has since moved the set to Decatur. Stu Zicherman will make his directorial debut with the film. Two Q&As with Adam Scott have taken place at Atlanta's Midtown Art Cinema recently after screenings of his film "Friends With Kids."

Kevin Bacon has been in Smyrna for the past couple of weeks filming an untitled pilot by Kevin Williamson. Not much more information has been released on the project.

USA Network show "Necessary Roughness" is filming in Macon this week. The show films mostly in Atlanta. Also on USA, "Royal Pains" is currently filming in coastal Georgia for a couple of weeks before moving the set back up to New York. They are shooting in St. Marys and Jekyll Island through the end of March.

MTV's "Teen Wolf" is currently shooting on location between Decatur and Avondale Estates.
