#GAfilm Floods January Box Office

Ice Cube and Kevin Hart return to star in the Georgia-lensed "Ride Along 2."

#GAfilm has flooded the January box office. Two Georgia productions, "Dirty Grandpa" and "The Fifth Wave" made their debut this past weekend, opening in the fourth and sixth positions respectively. They join Atlanta-filmed "Ride Along 2,” which dropped to third place behind "The Revenant" and the record-breaking "Star Wars: The Force Awakens" after its #1 debut the weekend prior.

From downtown Atlanta to Tybee Island, filming for these three #GAfilm productions have taken place all throughout our Camera Ready state. Find out their specific filming locations below and stay tuned to the end for a list of upcoming #GAfilm releases!

Ride Along 2

Fresh out of the police academy, rookie cop Ben Barber (Hart) accompanies veteran detective and future brother-in-law James Payton (Ice Cube) to Miami to track down a local drug lord. The cop-comedy also stars Olivia Munn, Ken Jeong and Benjamin Bratt.

Filming Locations: Downtown Atlanta, specifically at the Georgia State University Building at 55 Park Place. Filming also took place on location in Miami, Florida.

Robert De Niro and Zac Efron star in "Dirty Grandpa."

Dirty Grandpa

A week before his is to be married, uptight lawyer Jason Kelly (Efron) is tricked into driving his foul-mouthed grandfather Dick (De Niro) to Daytona for a wild spring break. The comedy also stars Julianne Hough, Aubrey Plaza and Adam Pally.

Filming Locations: Metro Atlanta, specifically at the Grand Atrium at 200 Peachtree, the Havana Club and Inman Park in Atlanta; the Delkwood Grill in Marietta; off Highway 19/41 and Highway 20 in Hampton; as well as in McDonough. Spring Break scenes were filmed in Tybee Island and Savannah, with the Bull River Yacht Club serving as a primary filming location.

Georgia native Chloe Grace Moretz stars in "The Fifth Wave."

The Fifth Wave

Teenager Cassie Sullivan (Chloe Grace Moretz) fights for survival as a series of alien attacks decimate the planet in waves, causing earthquakes, tsunamis and disease. The sci-fi thriller also stars Nick Robinson, Alex Roe and Liev Schreiber.

Filming Locations: Metro Atlanta, specifically on Cherry Street and First Street in downtown Macon as well as in Atlanta and Norcross. Fun fact, “The Fifth Wave” spent $21.7 million in Georgia during filming, according to the Atlanta Business Chronicle.

  2. I will come back to this place, its huge and open, and have really tall ceilings. Wait staff at venues in Los Angeles was also pretty good. Bartender was awesome and personable. I was really pleased with my party here. Ha! I highly recommend these guys.
